february 2007

the march edition of mojo magazine has just been released on which i have a credit for mastering one of the tracks on the CD.

I mixed the spring harvest new songs album at my own place in my loft, finishing on wednesday 7th, before flying out to jersey for 2 very enjoyable days. Gerard le feuvre is a most talented cello player, and he lives there on the island. he'd asked me to come out because he'd put a home studio together and needed some help installing his pro-tools rig and the various other midi bits and pieces and controllers he'd bought. we'd not actually met before but we have worked on the same projects from time to time. turns out we got all the equiptment up and running, I gave him a few basic pro-tools lessons to get him going, but more importantly we got on like a house on fire.

the following week rach, robbie, joe and i flew out to ireland for a few days, returning on thursday 15th and the next day i spent in a rehearsal room in London with a band called 'glass darkly' for a little bit of pre-production before they go in the studio.

Monday 19th I started a new project with an excellent band from rustington on the south coast called retrofect. A great bunch of guys. we're working on 10 tracks. they've been working with stu g from delirious who's done a lot of the pre-production work with them and an excellent job he's done too making my life a lot easier especially as we're trying to track this whole album in just 9 days.

while all this was going on, i was also trying to fit in some rehearsals for a split level one off reunion gig in Germany. turns out lead singer adrian was the only one who could make the show, so he found himself another drummer (tim cooke) bass player (mark prentice) and asked me to get out from behind the sound desk, dust off my guitar and get on the stage with them. right now it's saturday 24th feb, 6am and i'm sitting in an airport lounge at heathrow terminal 1 writing this and waiting for the flight to dusseldorf for the show tonight. i'll let you know how we got on, but right now I'm thinking 'just one more rehearsal !!!'...
